How To Fix Geometry Dash Not Opening

Method 1: Launching in compatibility mode

For this method you will be running Geometry Dash in a more “compatible” instance of the game.
First you will have to go to Geometry Dash’s internal files. You can do this two ways.

– Right clicking Geometry Dash in your Steam inventory
– Clicking “Properties”
– Going to the “Local Files” bar
– Clicking “Browse Local Files”

Or…

– Opening File Explorer
– Going to (C:)
– Going to either “Program Files” or “Program Files (x86)” (depending where you have Steam installed)
– Going to Steam > steamapps > common > Geometry Dash

From here, follow the steps to launch it in compatibility mode

– Right click “GeometryDash.exe” in File Explorer
– Click “Properties”
– Click the “Compatibility” bar
– Check the “Run this program in compatibility mode for” box
– From the drop down menu, select an operating system

After doing these steps, you can run Geometry Dash in Steam normally mega hack v6 free Download.

Method 2: Verifying the files

WARNING: THIS METHOD WILL DELETE ANY CUSTOM FILES YOU HAVE IN YOUR GEOMETRY DASH FOLDER AS IT VERIFIES THAT THE IN-GAME FILES ARE LEGITIMATE. BACKUP YOUR FILES IN A SAFE FOLDER.

What happens in this method is Steam checking your files and making sure they are all original files downloaded from Steam. A quick version of an uninstall and reinstall, if you wish.
You will have to go to the Geometry Dash properties.

– From Steam, right click Geometry Dash
– Select “Properties”
– Go to the “Local Files” bar
– Click “Verify Integrity of Game Files”

If you had any corrupted files, they should be removed now. If you saved any texture packs, skins, or custom songs, you can restore them to their location.

Method 3: Moving the .dat files

WARNING: THIS METHOD WILL DELETE YOUR DATA IF IT HAS NOT BEEN SAVED TO THE CLOUD.

This method deletes your locally saved data, which may be corrupted. If your data is saved to the cloud, you can easily load it.
You will have to enter the Geometry Dash folder in appdata for this method.

You can enter appdata two ways.

– Go to File Explorer
– Type “%appdata%” in the address bar
– Go to “AppData” in the address bar
– Click “Local”
– Click “GeometryDash”

Or…

– Go to “Run” (shortcut Windows key + R)
– Type “%appdata%” (File Explorer should open)
– Go to “AppData” in the address bar
– Click “Local”
– Click “GeometryDash”

This is where all the downloaded songs are stored by default. Now you can move your .dat files.

– Scroll down to the bottom of the folder
– Select the four .dat files and move them to a safe folder
– Launch Geometry Dash from Steam

Method 4: Reinstalling your OS

This method is relatively unknown and I do not have any experience with it, so I will not be going very in-depth. There are only two instances of this method working.

If your computer has sensitive or important documents in Windows, I would not recommend this method.

– Open Settings
– Click “Update & Security”
– Click “Get started” under “Reset this PC”
– Follow the instructions. You do not need to wipe your files.

Method 5: Deleting songs

If your computer is fairly weak, this method may actually work.

You will have to enter the Geometry Dash folder in appdata for this method.

You can enter appdata two ways.

– Go to File Explorer
– Type “%appdata%” in the address bar
– Go to “AppData” in the address bar
– Click “Local”
– Click “GeometryDash”

Or…

– Go to “Run” (shortcut Windows key + R)
– Type “%appdata%” (File Explorer should open)
– Go to “AppData” in the address bar
– Click “Local”
– Click “GeometryDash”

Once here, you will find your stored songs and four .dat files holding your local progress. Simply delete some songs and you should be able to run the game. (I have almost 8 GB of over a thousand songs on a 7th gen Core i5 and I can run the game fine.)

If this method works, unchecking “No song limit” in the options is recommended.

Method 6: Updating/Regressing your graphics card drivers

This method will only work if you have a dedicated graphics card and not integrated graphics.
